CAMP WANDAWEGA

Clayton & Crume Holiday Campaign Photoshoot

  • Field Notes is a collection rooted in slow observation, memory, and place. Each piece begins as a colored pencil drawing, a deliberate and intimate way of studying landscape, line by line. From there, the drawings are transformed through the use of baby oil as a binder, softening the marks and allowing the scenes to blur, breathe, and settle into something more impressionistic.

The landscapes depicted in this collection are not tied to a single location, but rather to a feeling. They are inspired by familiar scenes, moments of stillness, and the subtle emotional responses that arise when spending time outdoors. There is a quiet nostalgia present throughout the work, a sense of remembering rather than documenting, of feeling rather than defining.

Through muted color, softened edges, and gentle movement, Field Notes invites the viewer to slow down and linger. These paintings are meant to evoke calm and reflection, mirroring the way a landscape can ground us, offer rest, and hold space for emotion without asking anything in return. Much like notes taken in the field, this body of work serves as a personal record of observation, emotion, and the ever-changing relationship between memory and place.
