A Sweet Addition
Will and I are so happy to share that we’re expecting a baby girl this August. We’re grateful for this new chapter in our family’s story and feel so blessed by this special gift the Lord has entrusted to us. I found out I was pregnant in November, and while much of the first trimester was spent resting and navigating morning sickness (ginger cookies for the win!), it also became a season of reflection and renewed creativity.
This time has invited a deeper awareness of the tension between the realization and release of what no longer serves me and the welcoming of what brings true peace and wisdom (I'll write more on this in a future post!). It has also shaped my creativity, encouraging me to move with greater intention and purpose, not only in my art, but in the way I approach every part of life.
With this season has come a natural shift in my studio practice. I’ve recently transitioned from oil painting to a drawing-based approach using colored pencils and binders, allowing each piece to hold a softer, more impressionistic quality. This new series will focus on landscapes and will be intentionally small in scale, limited to 8” x 10” works. I’m also spending time exploring custom framing, with an emphasis on texture and color as an extension of each piece.
While this change has adjusted the timeline of a collection I had originally planned for 2026, I’m feeling excited about this new body of work. I’m hopeful to release it later this year and will be sharing more about the process and themes as it continues to unfold. More to come soon!
